Pre-holiday weight loss? Can it be done?

It's so tempting to just eat my way from Thanksgiving to Christmas. I love to eat and I love everything about rich holiday foods. I love baking Christmas cookies with the kids, and I probably love licking the bowl more than Julie and Johnny. So, it's simply pure torture that I'm attemping to lose weight before the holidays. But, it has to be done. After the marathon at the end of October, I pretty much decided I deserved to eat whatever I wanted...which led to a weight gain of about 10 pounds in a month. Yikes! I'm trying to get back on track, and though it's painful it's the right thing to do. I'm back to the Weight Watchers program, I've been taking classes at the gym and trying to not go overboard on the weekends, (which is always my downfall). What do you do to keep in shape before and during the holidays? Do you have any fitness tips?
