What's for dinner? (or really dessert)

December 14, 2011 - Kristy MacKaben
It's Christmas cookie time!! My mom is the queen of Christmas cookies. She bakes batches upon batches of Christmas cookies. I'm not even sure what she does with them all. The problem is recently she has been getting a bit too adventurous. Instead of sticking to the old favorites, she has been trying new recipes every year, which sometimes aren't the greatest. But, sometimes she creates a last year. Here is a recipe for a new cookie she made last year, that now makes it to the top of my list.

St. Nick's Bars. (I think she found the recipe on the back of a bag of peanut M & Ms.)

Ingredients: one bag of Dove milk chocolate Promises one bag M&Ms, one cup creamy peanut butter, 2 1/2 cups confectioners sugar, two sticks of butter, 2 /12 cups graham cracker crumbs, one greased (15 by 10 by 1 inch pan) Directions: Combine the butter, confectioner's sugar, peanut butter and graham cracker crumbs in a bowl and mix. Press the mixture in the bottom of the pan. Melt unwrapped chocolates in the microwave for 90 seconds or until smooth. Pour melted chocolate on top of mixture. Place M&Ms over the chocolate. Refrigerate for a half hour. My mom accidently cooked the bars (before pouring on the chocolate) for 8 minutes in a 350 degree oven, and they still were awesome. Also, the recipe calls for peanut M&Ms, but we use regular.
