The obligatory Christmas card

December 18, 2011 - Kristy MacKaben
Last year was the end of our sending formal Christmas cards. We attempted to take a family picture for Christmas cards and it was a complete disaster. I hadn't planned on being in the picture so I was wearing ugly jeans, no makeup and a plain jane hairdo. Of course when we tried to get pictures taken of the kids, Johnny refused to stay put unless I was in the picture. So, there we were stuck with these awful family pictures we used for Christmas cards. We sent them to family members who said they were absolutely beautiful. And that was that. No more posed, forced looking Christmas cards with winter-type props in the background. We have gone the route of the obnoxiously silly and random Christmas cards. Of course our parents and older family members receive Christmas cards with nice shots of our kids throughout the year. But, some lucky family members and friends receive specially made Christmas cards with unflattering shots of us all. This year's lineup includes photos of: Julie with a grumpy face, Johnny with vaseline smeared all over him, Scott sipping from a fruity drink and me gobbling a massive piece of pizza. I attached some of the pictures we used.
