A sure winner

December 19, 2011 - Kristy MacKaben
Feverishly coloring every last speck of white space on the Christmas coloring sheet, Julie vowed that she was going to win the coloring contest at the Altoona Public Library. Her multi-colored snowman was like none that I had seen before, but I told her there were other kids entering the contest, and there might be a chance someone else would win. That was two weeks ago, and today we found out that she was right! She won the coloring contest and it couldn't have been a prouder moment for my little girl. Beaming from ear to ear, Julie admitted with no shame "I just knew I was going to win." After school we picked up her prize from Citizens Bank in Altoona, and they really put together a nice little package. Every kid in each age category who won the contest received a stuffed moose, a Barnes & Noble gift card and a little piggy bank with a $2 bill stuck inside. (Of course, before we walked out the door, the bankers made sure to offer up their banking services, but still, that was a nice gesture to the community.) And, along with the prize pack, came a little self confidence boost for our budding artist.
