The Monday blues

January 23, 2012 - Kristy MacKaben
I grew up in Baltimore at a time when the Colts abandoned a heartbroken city. Needless to say, I grew up without a team. Football just wasn't a part of our family and I didn't really care for the game. Sundays were for anything but football, and I rarely remember watching the Super Bowl. So, it's kind of funny that Julie and Johnny are growing up in a house of such diehard football fans. They wear the gear. They know the players and they sometimes actually sit and watch the games, cheering for touchdowns, field goals and interceptions. A California native, Scott is a lifelong, die-hard San Francisco 49ers fan, and over the years, I have become a hardcore Ravens fan. (Sorry Steelers fans!)Yesterday was a big day in our house because both of our teams were competing for the conference championships. There was a chance we could have played each other in the Super Bowl and we both lost! We pouted. We sulked. I refused to make dinner. Scott threw his hat across the room. It was a rough night in our football loving house. We'll get over it, but we are boycotting the Super Bowl this year. Any suggestions on an ulterior activity on Super Bowl Sunday??
