Ready for spring shopping? Check out the local consignment sale!

March 22, 2012 - Kristy MacKaben
What started as a small venture barely filling a volunteer fire company meeting hall, has morphed into a phenomenon. The Treasured Once Again Consignment Sale is in town again---this weekend at the National Guard Armory in Duncansville. I have consigned and shopped every year since the sale started at the Duncansville Fire Company three years ago. This year is their biggest sale by far, attracting crowds of shoppers waiting for the sale to open this morning. It seems like all the moms are chattering about the sale on Facebook; many delight in posting pictures of their kids in the outfits they bought from the sale. The sale comes to town for four days, and it has kind of taken hold of the community. Though I have made a couple hundred bucks at past sales, I'm not expecting to make as much this year. But, I was happy with my load of goodies I came home with last night. I probably went a little overboard this year--I spent $83, but Julie and Johnny really needed spring clothes. Considering I came home with eight outfits for Johnny (mostly nice brand names like Gymboree and Polo), and three outfits for Julie, along with a bathing suit and a spring skirt, $80 isn't so bad. If you haven't done so yet---check out the sale. It's at the National Armory (across from Meadows Ice Cream) in Duncansville. Hours are Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Happy Shopping!
