No tears!

September 6, 2012 - Kristy MacKaben
I thought for sure I'd be posting some schmultzy blog about Johnny going off to preschool. I'm proud to tell you I didn't shed one tear and I didn't feel a shred of guilt leaving my baby in the preschool room for his very first away-from-mama experience on Tuesday. Rewind to four years ago when I left Julie off at preschool and I was a blubbering mess, driving away from the preschool in tears, and moping around the house like a lost soul. For some reason, I just didn't feel sad this time around. Obvoiusly I don't love my little guy any less than my little girl, and I really wasn't like "Been there. Done that." It's just he made it so easy. He was so darn happy and adorable on his first day of school. Wearing his brand new tractor outfit and sporting his Lightening McQueen bookbag, he was ecstatic about being at school. He marched right up to the first boy he saw and said "Hi. I'm Johnny." Then, he walked into the preschool room like he owned it, gave the teacher a hug and sat down to play blocks alongside his new friends. That's my boy! When he woke up that morning Johnny asked me "Am I big now Mommy?" Now, that's something that would normally have me reaching for the box of Kleenx. But, I just smiled at him and nodded.
