Thank God. Finally. Good Riddance. I have to admit those were the first phrases that came to mind when we FINALLY sold our Altoona home. Our house at 5109 5th Avenue was on the market for almost 10 months. That's as long as full time labor! After two realtors, a Craig's List scam, several price drops, numerous home improvements, and constant sprucing up the property for showings--finally! Finally! Someone bought our house. When we put our house on the market in January we never imagined it would be October before we went to settlement. Needless to say it was a cause of much angst and frustration for those months we were trying to sell. Especially after we moved to Chicago and bought a new home, we turned quite bitter every time we thought of our old house or mentioned Altoona. That wasn't the way we wanted it to be. We truly enjoyed our time in the little railroad town and made several lifelong friends. It was just next to impossible to be positive while we mulled the possibilty of never selling our house. While we miss all our Altoona friends and the kids occasionally ask "When will we go back to the yellow house?", when the deal was done, we couldn't help but clink glasses and smile. Cheers!
